Vicky Kaushal's father Sham Kaushal recalls not being present when Sam Bahadur actor was born

Vicky Kaushal’s father and famous action director Sham Kaushal recently opened up about his personal life and early years of career, becoming very vulnerable as he opened up about various topics. Among other subjects, the action choreographer recalled how he was present around his wife when she gave birth to their elder son Vicky Kaushal.

During a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sham Kaushal spoke at length about his early years in Mumbai (then Bombay), recalling how he had arrived in the city after getting married to his wife Veena Kaushal, and how they had first lived in a 10 by 10 chawl for quite a long time. Sham Kaushal then noted how both his sons Vicky and Sunny were born in the same Chawl.

When Vicky was born, however, the Asoka action choreographer recalled how he was out of town, shooting as a stuntman for a mainstream picture in Ooty, a quaint hill station in Tamil Nadu. Sham Kaushal stated, “Phone hote nahi the toh meri saas yahaan pe thi toh, woh gaon se aaye hue the kyuki Vicky was due. (Since there were no phones, my mother-in-law had come from the village for assistance because Vicky was due).”

Recalling he was shooting at the exact moment Vicky was born, Sham recalls being completely oblivious to the development for a long time. He further stated, “Mujhe kuch information hi nahi mili waha pe. Jis din 16 ki raat ko Vicky paida hua toh, mujhe yaad hai meri night shooting thi. Mein aaya 19 ko wapas. Jab mein ghar pe pocha toh meri Sali thi, maine pucha unse kaha hai toh unhone bataya ki woh hospital mein hai. Mein darr gaya toh unhone bataya ki beta hogaya. (I received no information about it. The night he was born, I remember I had a night shoot. 3 days later, when I returned and asked my sister-in-law the whereabouts of my wife, she replied that Veena was in hospital. I was frightened, but thankfully my sister-in-law immediately clarified the reason for it, that she gave birth to our son.)

Sham Kaushal began his career in late 80s

Vicky Kaushal was born on May 16th, 1988 while Sham Kaushal’s younger son Sunny was born the following year on September 28. Both of them are prominent actors in Bollywood today.

Sham Kaushal began his career as a stunt co-ordinator in the late 80s, with the 1988 film The Perfect Murder, and gradually became one of the leading stunt directors with films like Prahaar, Dhanwan, and Agni Sakshi. Sham Kaushal continues to work as an action director, and has worked in over 150 films to date.
