‘Ranveer would have made a nice...’: Chiyaan Vikram on Anniyan Hindi remake
In a recent interview with DNA, Vikram discussed Ranveer Singh 's potential portrayal of his iconic role. When asked about Ranveer reprising his character, Vikram suggested that Shankar should have made a second part with him. However, he expressed that he would have liked to see Ranveer Singh 's interpretation of the character.
The Thangalaan star said, “I think you should ask Shankar this, he should have made part two with me.” But the actor didn’t stop there—on a more serious note, he admitted that he would have loved to see Ranveer's take on the character. "That's being very ambitious," Vikram said, adding, "But I thought Ranveer would have made a nice Anniyan. I really like him as a star, and it would have been interesting to see what he would do with the story."
What happened to the Anniyan Hindi remake after the announcement?
In April 2021, it was announced that Anniyan, previously dubbed in Telugu as Aparichitudu and in Hindi as Aparichit, would be remade in Hindi featuring Ranveer Singh . However, Aascar Ravichandran, the producer of the original Tamil version, filed a complaint against director Shankar in the South Indian Chamber of Commerce (SICC) and decided to take legal action against both Shankar and producer Jayantilal Gada, claiming the remake was being done without his consent.
Since then, no further updates on the film emerged until July this year when Shankar, while promoting Indian 2, confirmed the remake had been shelved. He stated that the initial plan was to remake Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh , but the producers requested a bigger project instead. Shankar added that discussions are ongoing, and he will make a decision after the release of Game Changer and Indian 3.
