Vivek Agnihotri says no award can ever do justice to The Kashmir Files star Anupam Kher - here's why

Vivek Agnihotri was conferred with the national award for his directorial The Kashmir Files. The director took to his social media to express gratitude upon receiving the honour. In his note, he made a special mention of Anupam Kher, who played a pivotal role in the movie. Interestingly, the note comes after the actor quipped that he deserved an award for his performance too. 

Vivek Agnihotri pens a note for Anupam Kher

Following the 69th National Awards ceremony held in the national capital, director Vivek Agnihotri took to his social media to pen a note for his win. His film The Kashmir Files was honoured with the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film. After expressing his gratitude to the jury and audience for the honour, the director took to X (formerly Twitter), to share stills of Anupam Kher from the film.

Sharing the photos he wrote, “And what can I say about the great man, the great actor, great friend and the backbone of #TheKashmirFiles. People will forget me and the film but this character of Pushkar Nath Pandit backed by tour-de-force performance of @AnupamPKher will always live in people’s hearts.” He concluded the note by asserting that the actor’s performance will be cherished and he does not need an award to prove his merit. The director wrote, “There is no award that can ever do justice to him.”

Anupam Kher desired to win the award for his performance too 

The National Awards winners were announced on August 24. Immediately after coming to know that his film had won the award, Anupam Kher took to social media to express his pride. He wrote, “Not only as an actor but also being an executive producer on the film I am so happy for this recognition for our film. ”

However, what caught notice in his post was the actor expressing the desire to win the award as an actor. He claimed, “Would have loved to win an award for my acting too. पर अगर सारी ख्वाहिशें पूरी हो जाये तो आगे काम करने का मज़ा और उत्साह कैसे आएगा।चलिए! (What’s the fun if all desires are fulfilled) Next time!”
