Vivek Oberoi was last seen in the Rohit Shetty-directed web series Indian Police Force also starring Sidharth Malhotra. The actor is now gearing up for the release of his film Masti. Following the release of the 2000 film Saathiya, Vivek became a national sensation. However, the actor was unable to maintain stability in his films and the following projects did not resonate well with the audience. His personal life too took the centrestage and made headlines while he was at the peak of his career. In a new public appearance, the actor shared his struggles and spoke about how fell victim to ‘lobbying’.
Vivek Oberoi recently took the dias at the India Global Forum where he detailed how some people in power ensured he did not find work even after establishing his footing in the industry. He mentioned that during that phase in life, he would often feel ‘frustrated’ and angered but credited his family for always supporting him. He recalled a bunch of people from the industry telling him that he would not be able to find work, and it happened.
The actor said, “I got a lot of success, I was winning a lot of awards in my career, and suddenly it evaporated because a bunch of people, who had a lot of power in Bollywood, decided 'You are not going to work here any more, we will make sure that happens'.” Speaking to India News about the same issue, the actor said, “I have been doing other businesses for a while now. There was a phase in my life where my movies were hit, performance was appreciated, yet for other reasons if you are not getting any role at all, when you become the victim of a system and lobby, you are left with just two options where you get all depressed or take it as a challenge and write your own destiny. I chose to walk on the latter path.”
Speaking at the forum, the Saathiya actor credited his mother, Yashodhara Oberoi for helping him through his tough phase. He said, “I experienced a lot of frustration and pain and anger and felt like a victim, and I didn't know how to deal with it. My mom is somebody I really look up to. She's my hero. And she said 'Put your attention into being a hero to someone else, and you will feel like a hero, you will feel like a winner'... the only way you can transition from being a victim to being a hero is by being a hero to someone. So you start finding someone that you can be a hero to.”
