Farah Khan says she had no idea who Ed Sheeran was when she invited him to her party

The recent appearance of former footballer David Beckham at a star-studded Bollywood event sparked memories of singer Ed Sheeran's past attendance at a similar bash during his India tour. Farah Khan, the host of the bash where Sheeran was in attendance, disclosed in a podcast chat with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa that she had no prior knowledge of the global icon.

Farah hilariously revealed that when approached by her cousin - a lawyer at a music company- to show Ed around Mumbai, she was oblivious to Sheeran's fame. She said, “I didn’t know who Ed Sheeran was so I thought it’s one of his (cousin) friends. I didn’t bother.”

Assuming he was one of her cousin's acquaintances, she initially brushed off the request, not realising the magnitude of the situation until her aunt and Abhishek Bachchan shed light on Sheeran's global status.

Farah Khan considered Ed Sheeran's song as a funeral music

During the star-studded event, Farah found herself perplexed by what she deemed funeral music being played by the DJ, only to discover it was Ed Sheeran's music. With a good-natured laugh, she recalled the singer's preference for Bollywood tunes over his own music.

"At the party, I was yelling at the DJ ‘Why are you playing funeral music?’ He said ‘Ma’am this is Ed Sheeran’s music’," she recalled. She added, "He left at 2 am as he had a concert the next day. He said I can stay here till morning but I have to perform tomorrow. The next day, he sent me 20 front row VIP passes for his show. But I didn’t go."

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran is slated to embark on another tour of India in March 2024, promising fans another opportunity to witness his musical performance live.
