Gwyneth Paltrow on nepotism
During the interview, when Gwyneth was asked what’s it like for her 19-year-old daughter to navigate her family, the actress said, "Now there’s this whole nepo baby culture, and judgment that exists around kids of famous people. She’s really just a student, and she’s been very… she just wants to be a kid and be at school and learn."
She further added, “There’s nothing wrong with doing or wanting to do what your parents do.” She added that nobody criticises a child who says, "I want to be a doctor like my father and grandfather." The Iron Man star said that the truth is that if you grow up in a family with a lot of artists and people doing art and music, that's what you know, just as if you grow up in a house with law, the debates around the table are about the nuances of whatever particular law the parents practice.
What do the other Hollywood stars have to say about the 'nepo baby' concept?
In recent years, the concept of nepotism has been a hotly disputed topic, particularly in Hollywood, with various celebrities, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Kate Hudson, O'Shea Jackson Jr., and Lily Allen, jumping in to defend the children of industry notables. Curtis had claimed in the past, "The current conversation about nepo babies is just designed to try to diminish and denigrate and hurt." Hudson acknowledged nepotism exists, but believes it occurs "way more" in areas other than Hollywood.
