Kakli 2898 AD has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of 2024 so far. The Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer has comfortably crossed ₹1100 crore mark at the worldwide box office and has collected over ₹600 crore in Hindi. The pan-India release has also recently completed its 50-day run in cinema halls. Celebrating this feat, the film's director Nag Ashwin chopped off his hair as a sign of reverence to the almighty at Arunachalam Temple.
Nag Ashwin shaves off his hair after Kalki 2898 AD success
It is a common practice in India to shave off one's hair or tonsure head as a sign of religious devotion or humility. Nag Ashwin's picture in which he appeared with a shaved head has now surfaced on social media. It seems like he did very recently as the director flagged off Roshann starrer Champion shoot by sounding the first clap and had his signature hairstyle back then.
Last year, after the blockbuster success of Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had offered his hair to Tirumala temple. Always seen with dense hair on his head and face ever since his 2017 directorial debut Arjun Reddy, Vanga shaved off his hair as a mark of respect for the almighty.
What's next for Nag Ashwin?
After Evade Subramanyam, Mahanati and Kalki 2898 AD, Nag Ashwin will be teaming up with top and renowned production house AVM Pictures, one of the oldest production houses of South Indian cinema. The duo announced a talent hunt in the name of Project S. They are seeking assistant directors for their project which is in pre-production. Nag Ashwin is expected to make an official announcement very soon.
