Robert De Niro, 80, credits girlfriend Tiffany Chen, 45, for raising their daughter

Robert De Niro has admitted that his girlfriend Tiffany Chen does most of the "heavy lifting" when it comes to raising their six-month-old daughter, Gia. During an interview with The Guardian, the actor opened up about raising his seventh child and first child with Chen. When asked if parenthood ever "gets easier" after being a parent for a long period, De Niro said no. Nonetheless, he thanked his partner for her assistance in raising their daughter.

Robert De Niro opens up on raising his baby daughter

During the interview, Robert De Niro spoke candidly about raising his daughter Gia and said, "It is what it is. It’s OK. I mean, I don’t do the heavy lifting. I’m there, I support my girlfriend. But she does the work. And we have help, which is so important."

De Niro discussed some of the aspects of parenting that he appreciates the most. "With a baby, it’s different to with my 11-year-old. My adult children. My grandchildren. It’s all different," he said. De Niro also shared the differences in his connections with his older and younger children. "Well, I don't talk to the adult children the way I talk to my baby," he went on to say. "Or the way I speak to my 11-year-old, though she's pretty smart," he added.

Apart from Gia, Robert De Niro has six children from previous relationships. De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, have two children: Drena, 52, and Raphael, 46. Julian and Aaron, 27, were born in 1995 with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith. With ex-wife Grace Hightower, he also has a 25-year-old son, Elliot, and an 11-year-old daughter, Helen Grace.
