Sushmita Sen opens up about her relationship with ex boyfriend Rajat Tara

Sushmita Sen recently confirmed and denied a bunch of rumours about herself ahead of her birthday. In a conversation with Mid Day, the actress talked about the rumours that she dumped her first boyfriend Rajat Tara after she won the Miss Universe crown. Sushmita said that she shares a beautiful relationship with Rajat and was the best man at his wedding.

Sushmita denies rumours of dumping her first boyfriend

Sushmita Sen opened up about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Rajat Tara and revealed that she attended his wedding as his best man. "Rajat Tara - he is actually he is one of the nicest people. I am so glad he was my first boyfriend because of the generosity of this man, to this day. He is the father of a very beautiful little girl, I was his best man at his wedding. He is married to a Serbian Lady and she is divine because she wanted me there. Everything about this wedding was special. I went to Belgrade for the wedding,” Sushmita said.

"A man like that you can’t dump. You just outgrow it sometimes. And I had outgrown him, and he realized that. He said to me, I have not brought you so far for you to get stuck with me. Go live your life. We remain friends and there are no regrets there. To this day he is the person I will call no matter where he is in the world and he will pick up and say, ‘Kaun tang kar raha hai, aau kya?’ I have been very blessed," she added.

Sushmita Sen on her 8-year hiatus

Sushmita Sen has opened up on her eight-year hiatus and shared how she was impressed by the content on the OTT platforms, adding how Aarya actually happened. For eight years, Sushmita explored different acting opportunities, hoping to find the perfect fit. None felt right until Aarya came along, like the universe finally giving her the role she'd been waiting for.

Elaborating on this, Sushmita said: "I was in an eight-year hiatus, sitting there and thinking, 'I don't like this, I do not like that. By default of knowing what you do not want, what I do want was being created, and that is where the manifestation comes in.”

"I did not realise that the OTT space was creating content the way it is now. I had the initial taste of it very close to when I did Aarya. Until then, I was like, 'the big screen, I will only work on the big screen,' and then this happened. I was sitting there thinking, if they are making content like this, this is what I want," she shared.

Sushmita added: "So, the platform then is not the key factor, the content is, the makers are, the team is. I started manifesting that and was waiting for something like this. It was author-backed, had a director like Ram Madhvani, a crew like this – this has been a God-gifted team for me to learn."
