Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has been a regular feature on popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres' The Ellen Show. During one of her appearances, the Love Story singer recalled the time she had a “near-death experience” on the show. Swift referred to a viral moment from the time she featured on one of the episodes and was “scared to death” after the host played a prank on her.

In 2009, during one of Swift's appearances on The Ellen Show, she was directed to a fake dressing room where cameras were installed, seemingly without her knowledge. While the All Too Well singer expected to see a room with photos of her and Ellen together, when she entered the inside, the latter jumped out of nowhere and scared her.
Swift’s reaction to the prank was hysterical and she fell to the floor out of fear. During her performance during the latter part of the show, Swift was scared several times. However, the locker room prank was said to be the best. It ended with both Swift and DeGeneres falling to the floor and laughing. Talking about the time, Swift told DeGeneres, “That was a near-death experience. There were several ways I could have died.”
