The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred religious literature from the Vedic times. The sacred text is highly sought after not just in India, but in Hollywood as well. From using the holy book for spirituality to seeking inspiration, the stars in the West have been vocal about the Bhagavad Gita coming to their aid in times of need. Stars like Will Smith, Cillian Murphy, Shawn Mendes and others have openly spoken about the book.

In an interview with Sucharitya Tyagi before the release of Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy mentioned that he has scuffled through the pages of The Bhagavad Gita to prepare for his role in the movie. He said, “I did read the Bhagavad Gita in preparation, and I thought it was an absolutely beautiful text, very inspiring. I think it was a consolation to him (Oppenheimer), he kind of needed it and it provided him with a lot of consolation, all his life.”

The Stitches singer spoke to Billboard following his breakup with Camilla Cabello. In the conversation, he admitted seeking refuge in spirituality and meditation during the ‘low point’ in his life. The singer then added that he began an in-depth exploration of Hinduism and then discussed the Bhagavad Gita with Think Like A Monk author Jay Shetty.

Will Smith has also been vocal about his love for India and Indian culture. While on his trip in the country, the actor surprised fans when he revealed to had finished 90 percent of the holy book. He also stated that the sacred text made him channel his ‘inner Arjuna’.

Will Smith’s estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith has also admitted to seeking comfort in the holy text. In her memoir, she states that she has been reading spiritual texts like the Bible, Gita and the Quran to embrace abstinence from sex, alcohol, violent entertainment, and unnecessary spending, opting for a more contemplative and mindful lifestyle.
