Zayed Khan Opens Up About Marrying Wife Malaika As Per Hindu Rituals: She Led, I Followed

Once a Bollywood heartthrob, Zayed Khan tied the knot to his love of life Malaika Parekh on her birthday in 2005 and embracing happily ever after. Being a national crush at that time, he did numerous films and television shows but took a brief stint on television in 2017. The actor has been on and off the radar for quite some time. Recently Main Hoon Na actor gave an interview where he recalled the unusual circumstances around his marriage.

Zayed Khan had a secret wedding

Zayed Khan appeared alongside his wife on the Couple of Things YouTube channel, where they were interviewed by his Main Hoon Naa co-star Amrita Rao and her husband, RJ Anmol.
Reflecting on their wedding, Zayed shared that they wanted a private ceremony. He praised Malaika for organising a beautiful, intimate celebration for close friends and family a few days ahead of the planned date. He also admitted that being unfamiliar with Hindu customs, he relied on Malaika to guide him through the rituals.

He further revealed, “I’ve never mentioned this before. Our wedding guest list had 2,000 names. In our minds, we’re wondering if this is a wedding or a circus. So, we called up 30 of our friends and told them that we were going to Taj Village in Goa , and there’s a surprise for everybody there.”

Zayed Khan said he was in a tough spot at his wedding

He also shared, “She(his wife) very sweetly organised a pandit and the pheras. In Goa , at the Taj Village, we actually got married before our official wedding. We did our seven pheras, and it was such a beautiful destination wedding. We really wanted to remember the day and have a great time.” When asked if this meant they were already married before their public wedding, they laughed and confirmed with a yes.

Zayed mentioned that although his family celebrates all festivals and respects all religions, he found himself slightly out of his comfort zone during the Hindu wedding. “We’re from a family that honours all religions and Gods without question. So, it was the sweetest gesture for us. I still remember not knowing much about Hindu wedding customs, so I asked her to lead, and I simply followed.”
