As the viewers get ready for an extravagant evening of the 81st Golden Globe Awards. Hollywood's A-listers are expected to take the stage, bringing even more excitement to the evening that launches the upcoming awards season. The first round of presenters for their Sunday night show was revealed on Thursday, January 4.
The names in the presenters list for the Globes include Will Ferrell, Amanda Seyfried, Julia Garner, Justin Hartley, Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett, Gabriel Macht, George Lopez, and Julia Garner. The event is streamed live on Paramount+ and broadcasted on CBS at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET, live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Jo Koy, an actor and stand-up comedian, is hosting the show this year, taking over from comedian Jerrod Carmichael. This is Koy's first time hosting a significant awards show. Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner are this year's executive producers/showrunners of the Golden Globes.
The box office champion Barbie, leads all films with nine Golden Globe nominations this year, followed by Oppenheimer with eight and Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things and Searchlight with seven each. There are 26 categories in total. HBO's final season of Succession has nine nominations in the TV races, the most ever for a series.
This year, there will be two new categories added to the Golden Globes - Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television. It is anticipated that Barbie, the biggest box office success and one of the most beloved films of the previous year, will take home the prize for box office and cinematic achievement.
For the latter category stand up specials like Ricky Gervais for Ricky Gervais: Armageddon, Trevor Noah for Trevor Noah: Where Was I, Chris Rock for Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, Amy Schumer for Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact, Sarah Silverman for Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love and Wanda Sykes for Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer have been nominated.
