Emmy Awards postponed to January amid SAG-AFTRA, WGA strikes

The Primetime Emmys mark the night where TV writers, actors and technicians get awarded with the highest of honours in the industry. This edition is unique for the Emmys as it marks its 75th edition. However, one of the biggest awards night has been postponed by more than three months.

75th Emmy Awards new date announced
The announcement of the Emmy Awards getting postponed came from The Television Academy and FOX. The official statement read, “As the Emmy Awards celebrates its 75th anniversary, the show will broadcast live on FOX coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theatre at LA Live and will honour the talented performers, writers, directors and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired and connected viewers across the globe throughout the past year.”

As per a post from the official account of the Television Academy on X, the Emmys will now take place on January 15, 2024.
Who are the top Emmy nominees this year?
HBO drama Succession, which concluded its run earlier this year, earned a total of 27 Emmy nods. Lead actors Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox all scored nominations. Meanwhile, the other two HBO shows The Last of Us and The White Lotus have also received 24 and 23 Emmy nods respectively.

This year’s biggest entry, The Bear, has earned 13 Emmy nominations, including the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White. Notably, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have not yet concluded, and will likely go on until AMPTP meets the demands of the two protesting groups.
