Joker Folie a Deux OTT Release: The much-anticipated Joker sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga has turned out to be a box-office disaster. The movie hit the big screens in India on October 2 followed by a world premiere on October 4. Despite being a follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster thriller, it has failed to capture the audience's interest. Directed by Todd Phillips, the movie has garnered mostly mixed to negative reviews and has not performed well commercially. In light of this, the producers have now announced that it will be available on OTT platforms within a month of its release.

Joker: Folie a Deux get OTT release date

As per the latest reports, Joker: Folie à Deux got a digital release date following its disappointing performance in theatres. The sequel to Joker will become available on digital platforms starting from October 29. 

While the specific OTT platform for the release remains uncertain, this digital launch occurred less than a month after the film premiered in North American cinemas on October 4.

Joker 2 vs Joker India box office comparison

After starting with a respectable opening of just over ₹5 crore in India on October 2, Joker: Folie à Deux has experienced a consistent decline in collections, failing to reach the ₹2 crore mark on any day since its release. The weekend box office figures offered no relief either. In total, Joker 2 has earned ₹10.99 crore in India during its extended five-day opening weekend.

In contrast, the original Joker from 2019, which won Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar for his portrayal of the troubled Arthur Fleck, garnered ₹23 crore in India over its five-day weekend. Although both films share the same release period, their box office results differ significantly after five years.

Netizens criticised the film's plot

 As soon as Joker 2 was released globally, the film faced criticism, prompting social media users to express their honest opinions on X. One user commented, “After watching Joker 2, I felt they only wanted Lady Gaga to sing. The film lacked a plot and was all about the vibes. I want my three hours back.”
