Jonathan Majors was convicted on Monday of assaulting his former girlfriend after a two-week trial. The Creed actor began his trial over the alleged attack on December 4 at Manhattan Criminal Court, New York.  A Manhattan jury found Majors, 34, guilty of assault and harassment in an incident that took place in March earlier this year.

He was also acquitted of a different assault charge and aggravated harassment. Once slated to lead the next phase of the Marvel universe as the supervillain Kang the Conqueror, Majors is now faced with an uncertain future. Shortly after the verdict, a spokesperson for Walt Disney- owned Marvel said that the studio had dropped the actor from future projects. He was scheduled to play the lead role in 2026 release Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Here's a complete timeline and all major points from the Jonathan Majors assault case.

The accusations surface against Jonathan Majors

The dispute between Jonathan Majors and Grace Jabbari began in the backseat of a chauffeured car and spilled into the streets of Manhattan. Jabbari, a 30-year-old British dancer, accused Majors of "hitting her in the head with his open hand, twisting her arm behind her back and squeezing her middle finger until it fractured".

Majors team claims "complete innocence"

"He's done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up," the actor's rep said in a statement.

The Ripple effect: Majors loses work

Shortly after the reports of this incident, the US Army decided to pull a recruitment campaign that featured Majors. Additionally, when Michael B. Jordan took to social media to promote Creed 3 becoming available to stream, he didn't include a single picture of Jonathan Majors, even though he’s his leading co-star.

In April, Jonathan Majors was also dropped by his PR firm. After that, Majors and fashion company Valentino also “mutually agreed” to not collaborate at the Met Gala, thereby uninviting him from the event. He was also dropped from some other ad campaigns. All his movies are on hold as Hollywood has seemingly distanced itself from the actor. Majors is also currently set to reteam with Spike Lee on Amazon Studios’ Da Understudy and to play Dennis Rodman in Lionsgate’s 48 Hours in Vegas.

More allegations of abuse against Majors

On April 19, Variety reported that multiple unnamed women had come forward with abuse allegations against Majors and are cooperating with Manhattan’s district attorney’s office. Majors’ lawyer has disputed this report, saying the “story is baseless and without foundation” along with showing confidence he is innocent.

Trial date is set for March case

Majors was given an official court date on August 3. He was ordered by the court to show up in person, but he did not. After a series of delays, the date was moved to October 25. The actor’s request for his case to be dismissed in court was denied. Instead, a trial date was set for November 29.

Majors' movie Magazine Dreams removed from release calendar

As the trial date drew nearer, Searchlight removed Jonathan Majors-led drama Magazine Dreams from its calendar completely. Rumours started doing the rounds that Marvel was re-working on its plans for the future of the Avengers franchise with Majors out of the picture.

Assault trial begins

The opening statements in the case were heard on December 4 and two weeks were allotted for the trial. Now, with Majors convicted, the actor will appear for sentencing on February 6.
