Julia Garner joins the cast of Christopher Abbott starrer Wolf Man

Julia Garner, known for her Emmy and Golden Globe-winning performances, has landed the lead role in Leigh Whannell's upcoming film, Wolf Man. Reuniting with Christopher Abbott from their collaboration in Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene, Garner plays a mother facing the terror of a lethal predator.

Since her debut in 2011, Garner has become a prominent figure in both film and television. Notably, she clinched three Emmy awards for her role in Ozark and received acclaim for portraying real-life con artist Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna. Variety reports her Independent Spirit Award nomination for the lead role in The Assistant.

The actress, also a producer through her Alma Margo production banner, recently garnered praise for The Royal Hotel. Additionally, she is set to star in the psychological thriller Apartment 7A. Garner's connection with Universal came through the audition process for the shelved Madonna biopic. Although the project is on hold, Julia shared the stage with Madonna during a special appearance last month.

Diablo Cody, an Oscar-winning screenwriter, initially collaborated with Madonna on the script but departed after completing her draft. Erin Wilson later joined to further develop the story in collaboration with Madonna. Madonna revealed to EW about her intention to depict the challenges of "struggling as an artist in a man's world as a woman." Describing the storyline as a rollercoaster of emotions, she characterised it as a "happy, sad, mad, crazy, good, bad, and ugly" account of her journey to fame and success.

Wolf Man directed by Whannell, follows his success with The Invisible Man. Originally slated to star Ryan Gosling, the lead role went to Abbott. The film, produced by Jason Blum, is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production and is scheduled for release on October 25.

With Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo at the writing helm, Wolf Man promises to be a thrilling addition to the Universal Monsterverse.
