Martin Mull, Roseanne Actor, Dies At 80 After 'Valiant Fight' With Longtime Illness
He is survived by his daughter Maggie, a TV writer, and his actor-composer wife, Wendy Haas.

Martin Mull, an American actor and comedian, who has worked in shows such as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Roseanne and Clue, died on June 27. He was 80 when he breathed his last. Martin died at his home after a “valiant fight against a long illness,” his daughter, Maggie Mull, announced on social media.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Maggie shared a monochrome photo of her father and wrote that her father was known for "excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and for doing Red Roof Inn commercials." She added that he was "never not funny" and would be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians.
"I am heartbroken to share that my father passed away at home on June 27th, after a valiant fight against a long illness. He was known for excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find that joke funny. He was never not funny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and—the sign of a truly exceptional person—by many, many dogs. I loved him tremendously," read her post.
Soon after she shared the post, her industry friends flooded the comment section, paying their last respects to the veteran comedian.

Dan Levy commented, "Sending you so much love. He was the greatest". Actress Alex Borstein wrote, "Was it the debate? This blows and I’m sending my best to you and your family and I hope your heart is full of love for him and great memories." A fan wrote, "Sending love to you and your family, Maggie." Another wrote, "I am so sorry Maggie. Sending you so much love." Another wrote, "So sorry for your loss and sending my condolences."

The late actor started his career in the entertainment world as a songwriter and became known as a musical comedian. He opened for Frank Zappa and Bruce Springsteen in the early 1970s. His first notable role was in 1976, where he played the role of Garth Gimble on the soap opera spoof Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. His performance led to two additional spin-off roles, including in the series Fernwood 2 Night. He then landed the role of army officer Colonel Mustard in the black-comedy film Clue. He has also voiced advertisements that his daughter mentioned in her tribute. Martin had made appearances in numerous television shows, such as The Simpsons, Two and a Half Men, Family Guy, The Golden Girls, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
