Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed biographical thriller titled Oppenheimer has achieved a significant milestone in its box office journey before its digital release. Oppenheimer debuted alongside Greta Gerwig's Barbie in a joint release event termed Barbenheimer, collectively amassing a staggering $2.2 billion at the box office, Collider reported. Over the span of more than 100 days in theaters, the film garnered $325 million domestically and an impressive $625 million from international markets, inching closer to the remarkable $1 billion milestone.

While achieving an additional $50 million might appear challenging, the film's strategic re-releases in the coming months, coupled with its anticipated awards campaign, are expected to propel Oppenheimer closer to becoming Nolan's third billion-dollar grosser.

Not without its share of controversies, the film faced critique for Nolan's deliberate decision to focus solely on J. Robert Oppenheimer's perspective, omitting visuals depicting the atomic bomb's impact. Addressing these critiques in a recent Variety interview, Nolan reiterated his commitment to presenting the story through Oppenheimer's lens.
