Saw series to return with an eleventh installment? Lionsgate teases new film in cryptic post

The Saw films have easily been one of the longest running franchises in the history of contemporary horror cinema. The latest addition to the franchise - its tenth installment - simply titled Saw X, was released theatrically worldwide, taking the Saw legacy forward - or rather, backward, considering the timeline for the same was set between the first and second films. Now, Lionsgate, the studios bankrolling the franchise, have teased the audiences with a cryptic announcement for the eleventh addition to the franchise.

The official page for Saw and Lionsgate, took to their social media handles, to make a joint post, presumably announcing the eleventh installment to the uber successful franchise. In classic Jigsaw style, the cryptic post carried a series of Roman numbers with 'X' and 'I' painted in red amid the otherwise drab colours.

The caption to the post read, "The game continues. 9.27.24". This presumably implies how the film is reportedly under way and is in all likelihood, eyeing a release date of September 27, next year. Considering the back and forth trajectory the makers of the film have been exploring with the film's latest installments, there is still no clarity regarding the timeline for the alleged eleventh film.

Will Tobin Bell reprise his role of the Jigsaw killer?

Tobin Bell is notorious for his stealth yet menacing portrayal of Tobin Bell - the Jigsaw killer - in the twisted horror-thriller franchise. That being said, there has been immense speculation if the actor will continue his jaunt with the franchise.

While Bell reprised the iconic role in Saw X, the franchise's previous film, Spiral, did not feature the actor. It will make for an intriguing wait to see if Bell returns once again, as the cold and menacing Jigsaw killer.
