Tom Hanks' previous case of fraudulent AI use
This is not the first Tom Hanks has faced such a situation. Last year too the actor vocalised the issue of AI and deepfake. It was to highlight a promotional video that used a deepfake of the actor to promote a dental plan.
He advocated with legislators to look into this matter and enhance protection against digital identity theft. “BEWARE!!” Hanks began in that post, pulling out the all-caps warning in that instance too. “There’s a video out there promoting some dental plan with an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it.”
