Twilight writer Stephenie Meyers did not want Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart cast in the film
Twilight writer Stephanie Meyers recently revealed her top picks for the key roles in the films - drastically different from the original cast.

The Twilight franchise has had a rather lasting impact on the contemporary pop culture scene. The film's lead pair, Bella and Edward, essayed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson respectively, have etched themselves in internet parlance either for the film's nostalgic value, or, the exaggerated comic effect. However, Pattinson and Stewart were not the first choice for the uber successful film franchise, at least from the perspective of writer Stephenie Meyers.

For the unversed, Stephenie Myers is the writer behind the Twilight volume of books from which the film franchise has been adapted. Recently, Meyers shared a blog post of hers from 2007 which carried the list of names she would have cast in the films if the decision were up to her.

Instead of Robert Pattinson for the role of Edward Cullens, Myers would have cast Henry Cavill. Similarly, not Kristen Stewart, but Emily Browning was Meyer's first pick for the role of Bella Swan. Charlie Hunnam as Carlisle Cullen, Rachel Leigh Cook as Alice, Joanna Krupa as Rosalie and Daniel Cudmore as Emmett made up the rest of Meyer's dream cast. These roles however went on to be essayed by Peter Facinelli, Ashley Reed, Nikki Green and Kellan Lutz respectively.
A Twilight reboot in the works?
During a Twilight watchalong on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused Podcast, director Catherine Hardewick hinted at a possible franchise reboot. However, not Pattinson and Stewart, but Jacob Elordi and Jenna Ortega were her top picks to essay the iconic pair. The names, initially floated by Horowitz was met with an immediate yes from her.

She said, "Oh yeah, that would be perfect, I mean, he’s amazing..." further adding how Ortega too would be "amazing" for the role of Bella Swan.
