Jeremy Allen White has burst onto the acting scene with his portrayal of  Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto in The Bear, a volatile award-winning chef returning to his hometown in Chicago to take over his deceased brother's sandwich shop. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the time he missed out on what could have been a major Marvel casting. He also made brief reflections on his career choices.

Jeremy Allen White missed out on being inducted into the Marvel Universe

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Jeremy Allen White reflected how as soon as an up and coming star is spotted in Hollywood, they seem to be immediately lapped up by either Marvel or DC for one of their projects. White too was on track to land a Marvel role. As a matter of fact, he recalls actor Riz Ahmed asking him, “When are you going to do a Marvel thing?" However, no such thing materialised as White admitted to letting his skepticism get to him.

White shared, "I had a meeting for a kind of Marvel-y movie, and I had an attitude, I think I played it all wrong." He recalled walking into the meeting with the perspective of "Tell me about why should I do your movie." The Marvel executives of course did not take to that kindly. In a tongue-in-cheek manner, White stated, "They were like, ‘F*** you.’ And I was like, ‘Right on'."

Did Jeremy Allen White intentionally forego the Marvel opportunity?

White was very categorical in asserting how he would much rather star in a drama that cost $25 million to make as opposed to a big budget superhero movie. He also reflected on the fact that he feels like most actor's would also chose to do the same, creatively speaking.

He said, "I am confused at how the pinnacle of an actor’s career has ended up in that place...They get really good filmmakers to do those movies and obviously they get really good actors to do those movies…I played it the way I wanted to play it."
