Kaatera first impressions: Darshan steals the show in new Kannada film, netizens hail DBoss

Kaatera, the Darshan starrer action-drama movie which released today, has received a great response from audience overall. Not only has the film been trending since its releasing, social media too is brimming with netizens posting their reactions to the review, particularly praising Darshan’s performance among other aspects of the film.

One X user posted praised the director Tharun D for presenting Darshan in such a stylish, dashing avatar. The user also expressed his praise for Darshan’s vintage look in the film. Another X user had special praise for the film’s metaphor-heavy dialogue writing, crediting the dialogue writer Maasthi Upparahalli. The user also praised Darshan’s performance, rating it a perfect 5 out of 5.

Another X user posted on their page, “One of the best pure Goosebumps movie.. direction, screenplay, storyline, cinematography, Music” suggesting that everyone was well done. The user also tagged the film’s director, adding the note that the wait for this movie was worth it. 

Amidst all the praise, one netizen chose to capture the thunderous audience reaction for the film, posting a video clip from outside one of the theatres screening Kaatera. A huge crowd had assembled outside the theatre.

Darshan is one of the most popular Kannada film stars, and has been actively working as the lead hero for more than 23 years in Kannada films. Kaatera was announced in February 2022 on the occasion of its lead star Darshan’s birthday. In Kaatera, Darshan plays the titular role of a fierce blacksmith who must enable and help all the farmers in his village in their battle against the oppressive feudal landlords.

The film’s cast includes actors like Radhana Ram, Kumar Govind and Avinash Yelandur. Telugu star Jagapathi Babu, who recently made a special appearance in Prabhas-starrer Salaar. Kaatera is directed by actor-turned filmmaker Tharun Sudhir whose debut film Chowka was highly acclaimed besides being a box office success.
