Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been detained in Mysuru by Bengaluru police on Tuesday morning (June 11) in connection with a murder case of Renukaswamy. Apart from him, ten more people have been detained for questioning in the murder case.  The deceased was an assistant in a medical shot at Chitradurga.

A source claimed that Renukaswamy had sent obscene texts to actress Pavithra Gowda. On learning this, Renukaswamy was brought by Darshan's gunman, driver and friends. They beat him and dumped his body in the drain in Kamakshipalya. The incident came to light when Swamy's parents filed a missing complaint. On June 9 the body was found from the drain. "The victim has been identified as S Renukaswamy, 35, of Chitradurga. The body was recovered from the drain in Kamakshipalya, the western part of the city," City police commissioner B Dayananda said.

The body was sent for an autopsy and the forensic report confirmed that he was murdered.

After an investigation, four accused were produced before the police on the evening of June 10. Darshan's driver and a gunman surrendered and confessed to the crime. During interrogation, the accused named actor Darshan's involvement. Following this, they detained the 47-year-old actor this morning. City police commissioner B Dayananda confirmed the detention of the actor.

Actress Pavithra Gowda has also been arrested in connection with the murder.

For the unversed, Pavithra and Darshan have reportedly been dating each other for over a decade now.

Darshan is to be taken to court

Police sources have confirmed that the Kariya actor will be grilled by cops at Annapoorneshwarinagar police station, followed by his medical test at Victoria Hospital. After all this, he will be produced before the 24th ACMM court where police will seek his custody for further interrogation. The actor has likely been charged with murder and destruction of evidence.
