Kantara actor Rishab Shetty to play Lord Shiva in the prequel?
The makers of Kantara had release a brief teaser of their prequel film in November. The teaser featured Rishab Shetty who was also Kantara's protagonist.

Kannada actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty became a pan-India sensation with his 2022 film Kantara, which took the domestic box office by storm. The film, where Shetty played a rustic villager who revolts against the local landlords in a major land dispute and finds spiritual powers to fight back, became such a huge hit that the makers were compelled to release a Hindi dub version a week after the original’s release.
Kantara prequel teaser was released in November
Later, ever since the makers had announced their plan to make a prequel to Kantara, there was a lot of speculation about the film’s subject and storyline this time around. The speculations have been even more rife ever since the Kantara team shared a brief teaser of their upcoming film.
Released online on November 27, the teaser gave a glimpse of the set-up where we see our protagonist (played by Rishabh Shetty) looking up towards the sky in awe of something unknown. The teaser visuals are accompanied by a text card that read, “During the reign of Kadambas, a legend was born.”
Rishab Shetty to play a god-like figure in prequel?
While the said teaser promises a mythological feel for the prequel as well, it also sparks conversation about Rishab Shetty’s character in the film. It is to be noted that the character of Rishab in the first part Kantara is named Shiva and since it is being reported that the film is a prequel to the predecessor, the chances are high that we might get to see Rishab Shetty playing Lord Shiva in the much-awaited film.

Hombale Films had also produced KGF franchise
Hombale films that produced Kantara, has also been involved with some of the biggest projects in South Indian cinema in the last couple of years. The production house backed films such as KGF 1 and KGF 2, which are two of the biggest pan-Indian hits of recent times. Additionally, the production house also bankrolled the recently released actioner Salaar, directed by KGF filmmaker Prashant Neel. It stars Prabhas and Prithviraj in the lead roles.
