Former K-pop idol Seo Sarang announces divorce, accuses ex-husband of domestic abuse

Seo Sarang, a former member of girl groups like SUS4, H2L, OMyJewel, and Melody Pink, has brought her divorce lawsuit to a close with her ex-husband, Lee Jeong Hwan. The legal battle, which lasted over a year, has garnered significant attention due to allegations of domestic violence.

Divorce resolution after a long legal battle

Seo Sarang took to her Instagram handle on November 2 to announce the end of her divorce lawsuit, stating, "It's finally over. A lawsuit that lasted for more than a year has come to an end today." In her heartfelt post, Seo Sarang revealed, “I received a call from my lawyer, and tears welled up in my eyes. Not only divorce but also everything I've been through passed by, and I wondered why I had to experience things that some people might or might not go through at this age. There were times when I felt resentful of the world.”

Finding strength and maturity

Despite the challenges she faced, Seo Sarang emphasised her growth and resilience through the ordeal. As per Allkpop, she shared, "Now, I've become stronger through various experiences. I think I've matured enough to love both the good and bad experiences in my life. I have no regrets about marriage, childbirth, or divorce. I genuinely wish for happiness in both marriage and divorce because I aim for that. I'll make the second act of my life even more splendid by designing it well based on the lessons learned from the first act."

Domestic violence allegations and disputes

As per Allkpop, the divorce case involving Seo Sarang took a dramatic turn when she alleged suffering from domestic violence after appearing on the TVing original program Between Marriage and Divorce in May. The show initially suggested that she might be reconciling with Lee Jeong Hwan; however, two months later, the serious accusations came to light.

The situation further escalated when Lee Jeong Hwan countered with allegations of an affair, driving under the influence, and drug use, specifically, smoking marijuana.
