Lee Sun Kyun death: Parasite actor’s funeral to be held privately, agency issues statement
Lee Sun-Kyun’s agency HODU&U Entertainment released an official statement hours after the actor’s death news broke on the internet.

Lee Sun-kyun, known for movies like Parasite and A Hard Day, died at the age of 48 on December 27. He was found dead in a car in Seoul, South Korea's Jongno District, according to a Yonhap News Agency. Confirming the news of his death, the actor’s agency released a statement earlier today.
Lee Sun-Kyun’s agency issues statament
Lee Sun-Kyun’s agency HODU&U Entertainment released an official statement hours after the actor’s death news broke on the internet. As per Koreaboo, the statement read, “This is HODU&U Entertainment. We are sorry to share bad news. Actor Lee Sun Kyun passed away on December 27. There are no words to contain our sorrow and grief.”
As reports of Lee Sun-Kyun dying by suicide made rounds on the internet, the label requested everyone to refrain from making assumptions and shared details about his funeral procession. “Please respectfully refrain from spreading false information via speculation or malicious statements so that the final path of the deceased will not be unfair. The funeral will be held quietly with the deceased’s bereaved family and colleagues. We express our deepest condolences to the deceased,” concluded the statement.
Lee Sun-Kyun’s drug case
Lee Sun-Kyun had been questioned three times by police, including for 19 hours over the weekend. He had said he was tricked into taking drugs by a bar hostess who then tried to blackmail him. South Korea has tough drug laws, and drug crimes are typically punishable by at least six months in prison or up to 14 years for repeat offenders and dealers.
Born in 1975, Lee starred as a rich family's father in Parasite and also played leading roles in South Korean movies including the 2012 thriller Helpless and 2014's All About My Wife.
