Korean actors Ryu Jun-yeol and Lee Hyeri have broken up after seven years of dating. The duo first worked together in the hit drama Reply 1988 and confirmed their relationship in 2017. Now, after sharing a long relationship, the couple have called it quits.

News1 reported on Monday that Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol had made the decision to move on from their romantic relationship and begin a new chapter in their lives. The K-media insider also disclosed that, following careful consideration, the two had mutually chosen to maintain their friendship.

A few hours later, the news was confirmed by both of their agencies, C-JeS Studios and Creative Group ING, stating, “Yes, they have indeed broken up.”

Fans have been reacting to the news and expressing their disbelief on the internet. "What were they doing dating for seven years?" a fan wrote. "Obtaining a PhD, master's degree, and degree in one another?" Someone else commented, "Heartbreaking to hear. I'm wishing Ryu Jun Yeol and Lee Hye-ri luck and strength in the future. Although endings are difficult, I hope they both have new beginnings!" "It's better they break up than divorce," said a third comment.

Lee Hyeri and Ryu Jun-yeol confirmed their relationship in August 2017 after the couple’s riverbank date photos appeared online. The pair was adored by the general public for their portrayals of friends figuring out life's intricacies in Reply 1988. The character played by Ryu Jun-yeol, fell in love with Hyeri's character but was unable to get together with her. Thus, many admirers were overjoyed to learn that the couple was dating in real life.

On the work front, Lee Hyeri most recently acted in the K-drama May I Help You in 2022. She is now anticipating Victory, her next television series. On the other hand, Ryu Jun-yeol, who had his film debut in 2015, will soon be seen in Alienoid: Part 2, which is slated for release at some point in the upcoming year.
