RIIZE Seunghan takes indefinite hiatus from group activities due to private video leak controversy

The K-pop boy band RIIZE, which made its debut on September 4, is facing difficulties since one of its members, Seunghan, has been involved in personal scandals ever since the group's announcement. Due to the effects these scandals have had on the group's debut and public perception, the agency has decided to put him on an indefinite hiatus.
What is the reason behind Seunghan’s hiatus from group activities?
Seunghan was put on hiatus after old pictures of him as a minor smoking in the streets of Japan went viral on social media. The K-pop idol has a history of controversy, but when he got into a video chat argument with TXT member Soobin and three other individuals regarding LE SSERAFIM's Eunchae, things got rather ugly.
His childhood neighborhoods in Japan were shown in an old video of him smoking cigarettes, which went viral on social media and infuriated the already hostile internet community. Keeping all these things in mind his agency, SM Entertainment, announced his hiatus from group activity on Wednesday.
In a statement, the label said, “Seunghan has conveyed his desire to temporarily halt his activities for the well-being of the group. Acknowledging the challenges of continuing under these circumstances, we have chosen to honor Seunghan's decision in order to prevent any additional harm to the group and its members. Today, we officially announce Seunghan's indefinite suspension of activities with RIIZE.”

Following this, RIIZE will now work as a six-member group including Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Sohee, and Anton.
Seunghan issues an apology to his fans
After the news went public, Seunghan penned a note to his fans apologising for his actions. The singer wrote, “I sincerely apologize for my past actions that have hurt many people. I am reflecting on myself and want to express my apologies to the fans and RIIZE members who have supported me. I acknowledge the damage caused during a crucial time, and I am committed to self-reflection to become a better person.”
