SEVENTEEN Seungkwan breaks down in tears remembering ASTRO Moonbin at MAMA Awards | Watch

The K-pop group SEVENTEEN won the Album Of Year Award At MAMA 2023. While giving his acceptance speech for the honour, band member Seungkwan broke into tears remembering his late friend and ASTRO member Moonbin. The singer was consoled by his fellow teammates. 

Seungkwan express love for ASTRO Moonbin

After receiving the award, Seungkwan acknowledged the difficulties faced by the K-pop community while also applauding his fellow musicians. Then he spoke of Moonbin and expressed gratitude to him for all the love he showed to him in the past years. 

The singer said, “I’ll keep gifting you better, and better music. We promise you, thank you. Since it’s our first time for grand prize today at 2023 MAMA Awards, while preparing for it, watching others’ stages, I respected you all so much, thank you. Whether or not you received award today, I want to say that all the artists here are so great, and I learn a lot from them.” 

As he went on to talk, When Seungkwan seemed to be attempting to control his tears but was unable to do so. He further stated, "This is not an easy profession, but let's support one another and keep going. I'm not sure whether I can say this, but I want to say thank you and I love you to everyone who has liked and supported our music.”

Remembering his late friend Moonbin, Seungkwan added, “To my friend binnie, who loved and supported our team.. thank you." Dokyeom and Woozi, members of SEVENTEEN who were also close to Moonbin, were spotted crying and comforting Seungkwan.

Moonbin dies at the age of 25 

Moonbin, who was 25 years old, passed away in April 2023. Moonbin's manager found him lying in bed at his Gangnam, Seoul apartment. He, along with MJ, JinJin, Yoon Sanha, Cha Eun-woo, and former member Rocky, was one of the six original members of ASTRO. In addition, he was Moon Sua's elder brother from the K-pop girl group Billlie.
