Mammootty says 'no film's success is based on reviews' ahead of Kaathal: The Core release

During the promotional event, Mammootty said that a review of a film is different from roasting and it doesn't influence the moviegoers.

Mammooty, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Kaathal: The Core, during a promotional event opened up about what he feels about film reviews. He also talked about the growing tension in the Malayalam cinema regarding the reviews. He said that the film's success is not based on reviews.

Mammooty opens up if reviews affect the success of the film

During the promotional event, Mammootty said that a review of a film is different from roasting and it doesn't influence the moviegoers. He added, “A film’s success is not based on reviews, and hence, the best bet is to allow the two aspects to go their own way."

"The film-goers watch a film of their choice without being influenced," he said, adding that film "review" is different from "roasting".

Mammootty's statement comes a few weeks after the Kerala High Court directed the state police chief to have a closer look at the vested interests playing truant, especially in the social media when new films are released and the Ernakulam Central Police last month registered the first case on this and charged nine persons. 
The Ernakulam Central Police registered the FIR based on a complaint by film director Ubaini Ebrahim after he found that social media was flooded with negative reviews of his recently released Malayalam film Rahel Makan Kora.

Directed by Jeo Baby, the film is written by Paulson Skaria and Adarsh Sukumuran. The film also stars Jyotika as Mammootty's wife and explores the story of a homosexual man and how it impacts his family. It also stars  Joji John, Jisshu Sengupta and Muthumani, in pivotal roles. The film has been produced by Mammootty himself under the banner of Mammootty Kampany.

The film which is slated to release on November 23, has been banned in Kuwait and Qatar owing to its homosexual storyline.
