Mohan Raj's Death: Mohanlal, Mammootty And Others Remember Keerikkadan Jose
Mohanlal said to be called and recognised by the name of a character is a blessing that only an artist who has achieved the pinnacle of acting can receive.
Malayalam actor Mohan Raj, known by the stage name Keerikkadan Jose, died at his residence on Thursday, per PTI. The actor breathed his last while undergoing treatment for various ailments at his home in Kanjiramkulam. Soon after the news broke out, Malayalam superstars, who had worked with the late actor, paid tribute to the actor.
Mohanlal remembers the greatness of Mohan Raj
Taking to his Facebook handle, Mohanlal penned a note in Malayalam which we loosely translated to English. In his note, he said that to be called and recognised by the name of a character is a blessing that only an artist who has achieved the pinnacle of acting can receive. "Our beloved Mohan Raj, who portrayed the immortal character Keerikkadan Jose in Kireedam, has left us. I remember his grandeur standing in front of the camera, facing off against Sethu, as if it were yesterday. With tears in my eyes, I bid farewell to my dear friend, who maintained goodness and humility in his personal life," Mohanlal added.
For the unversed, Mohanlal played the lead role in Raj's second movie Kireedam.
Mammootty pays tribute to Mohan Raj
Mammootty dropped the throwback photo of Mohan Raj and simply wrote in Malayalam which we loosely translated to English, "Tributes to Mohan Raj".
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and State Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cheriyan expressed their condolence on the death of Mohan Raj.
Mohan Raj gained widespread recognition for his iconic villainous role as Keerikkadan Jose in the Mohanlal starrer Kireedam. With a career spanning over three decades, Mohan Raj played many notable villain characters, leaving an indelible mark on Malayalam cinema. His notable works include Uppukandam Brothers, Chenkol, Aaram Thampuran, and Narasimham, among others.
