#MeToo In Mollywood:  Parvathy Thiruvothu has called out ex-Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) members for mass resignation. The actress, a founding member of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) strongly reacted to the decision of the AMMA committee which led to the dissolution of the body. In an interview with Mojo Story, the Thangalaan actress shared that her first reaction to this move was "how cowardly of them to step away from a position where they are now accountable to speak to media".

This is the same executive committee that claimed none of these things actually exist: Parvathy

Parvathy has slammed Mohanlal and other ex-members of AMMA, who collectively resigned on Tuesday following the sexual abuse allegations against some of its members. The actress called it a "cowardly" decision and said that it would have been "amazing" if they had at least shown the intention to figure a way out. "That was the immediate cop-out. Again the onus falls on us women to take the conversations and debates forward and all of it. It would have been amazing if they had at least shown the intention to work with the government and stakeholders and figure a way out," she said.

The actress further stated that this is the same committee that "welcomed the prime accused of the sexual assault case back" when the case was still going on and claimed that none of these things existed.

Parvathy explains how AMMA functions

In the same conversation, Parvathy revealed that she is "not surprised" at their behaviour and added that she was part of the body before thus she knows how they function. "There's a reason why I happily resigned from the association. There is no one they can fool with this kind of behaviour...Society is now seeing them for who they are," she continued. Adding to it she said now AMMA will benefit from having "better leadership" and revealed that AMMA is a  "fear-induced atmosphere" and "authoritarian space for sure".
