Rana Daggubati is known for promoting small and big-budget movies not just in India, but also internationally. Earlier, he produced Teja Sajja starrer HanuMan and Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD. Now, the actor has acquired the Indian distribution rights for All We Imagine As Light, the movie that made history by winning the prestigious Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. This has come after the movie was shortlisted as France's Oscar contender, leading to an uproar in India to release the movie so that it qualifies for the Oscars run.

All We Imagine As Light to hit the Indian theatres on THIS date

Rana has put the fans at ease after he announced that All We Imagine As Light will be released in the theatres on September 21. The movie will be released on a limited screen in Kerala . This will mark its qualifying release for consideration as India’s candidate in The Academy Awards'  International Feature Film category.

What is the rush for the release of All We Imagine As Light?

The makers had no plans to release the movie this soon but the movie buffs believe All We Imagine As Light has the potential to make history by winning the award in the International Feature Film category. According to the Academy's guidelines, a movie must be released in theatres and run for at least seven days before being eligible for submission. And the deadline to send the movies is September 30. So for All We Imagine As Light to qualify, the makers have announced September 21, nine days before the deadline.

What do we know about All We Imagine As Light?

It is written and directed by Payal Kapadia. The cast includes Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam and Hridhu Haroon. The film was an international co-production involving companies from France, India, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy. The story revolves around two Malayali nurses - Prabha and Anu - living in Mumbai. Both troubled by their relationships, the two embark on a road trip to a beach town where "the mystical forest becomes a space for their dreams to manifest.
