Modern Masters SS Rajamouli Trailer: Prabhas, Jr NTR, Ram Charan Discuss Working With The 'Mad Man'

SS Rajamouli had a remarkable journey in the Indian cinema making his debut as a director with 2001 movie Student No. 1 to churning out blockbuster hits, such as the Baahubali franchise, Magadheera and RRR. Over the years, the filmmaker has swayed the audience with his movies, not just in India, but globally. Interestingly, he did not attend film school or earn a college degree in filmmaking, it was through comic books that he learned storytelling. Now, Netflix has released the trailer of Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli, a documentary based on his life. The documentary offers a glimpse into his extraordinary journey, spanning from Hyderabad to Hollywood.

Rajamouli is celebrated across the globe as not just his movies or characters but his songs have made the world groove, earning the Academy Awards for Best Original Song, Naatu Naatu. In the two-minute one-second clip, Rajamouli opens up about his dreams and aspirations. It opens with the director's voiceover, "I want to tell an incredible story. I just want the people to get invested in the movie." In the next frames, we see Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Prabhas and his other colleagues praising him. Not just Indian celebs, but also veteran Hollywood directors James Cameron and Joe Russo sang his praise.

In one of the frames, Jr NTR says, "This person is born to make films, and he's born to tell stories that have never been told. I haven't met someone like that." Whereas Ram Charan says, "Sometimes I am shocked. I see myself as a third person when I see his films." When asked "What is the headache of working with Rajamouli," Jr NTR, just laughed his heart out. The trailer showcases the director's dedication and passion for filmmaking by telling actors what he wants from a particular scene and showing them the right emotion for the scene.

What else do we know about Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli?

The biographical documentary is helmed by Raghav Khanna and bankrolled by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion Studios. It will stream on Netflix on August 2.
