Friday is here and so is the list of new movies releasing today, August 16, on OTT platforms such as Prime Video, Netflix, SonyLIV and others. From The Union to The Requin, the list includes a blend of horror, crime and romantic movies.

The film stars Awkwafina, John Cena, Ayden Mayeri, Donald Elise Watkins, Sam Asghari, and Simu Liu. Katie, a struggling actress, wins the lottery in California in 2030. The law allows anyone with a losing ticket to murder her before sundown and legally claim her winnings. Noel, an amateur lottery protection agent, helps to keep her alive until sunset in exchange for a share of her winnings. The movie is currently streaming on Prime Video.
The Union
Starring Mark Wahlberg, Halle Berry and J.K. Simmons, the movie follows a New Jersey construction worker who goes from regular guy to aspiring spy when his long-lost high school sweetheart recruits him for an espionage mission. It is slated to release on Netflix on August 16.
The Requin
Horror thriller stars Alicia Silverstone, James Tupper and Deirdre O'Connell. The movie follows a woman and her injured husband stranded at sea after a massive tropical storm. They fight for survival as great white sharks circle below. It premiered today, August 16 on Lionsgate.
