Barbie on OTT: When, where to watch Greta Gerwig's Margot Robbie-led social-fantasy flick

Greta Gerwig broke all box office records with her latest cinematic outing, Barbie. The film released in theatres on July 21 in a double feature along side Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer and zoomed past the latter, seamlessly making its way in to the billion dollar club. The much-loved film, also being mounted as a top contender for the Oscars' big five categories, will soon be available for streaming on a popular streaming platform.

Barbie to arrive on OTT

For the unversed, Barbie is already available for streaming on a leading digital streaming platform - namely, Amazon Prime Video. However, Barbie on Prime can only be accessed on rent at a price of ₹499 for a thirty day period, available only for a continued period of 48 hours once started. 

However, Barbie will now soon be available for the Indian audiences, free of cost. The Greta Gerwig film will soon be streaming on Jio Cinema. The date set for the same, stands at December 21.

What is Barbie about?

Greta Gerwig's Barbie, spotlights the iconic doll, humanising her to go forth with a skillful and complex commentary on the bourgeoning patriarchy and misogyny afflicting society. The film features Margot Robbie in the lead in the role of stereotypical Barbie. Robbie stars opposite Ryan Gosling who essays the role of Beach Ken. Not just Robbie and Gosling, but Barbie boasted of an expansive star-studded cast playing several versions of Barbie and Ken.

The film zoomed into the billion dollar club across its five-plus week run at the theatres. Barbie has raked in $1,441,804,117 at the worldwide box office, as per a Box Office Mojo report. Barbie also made Greta Gerwig, currently, the only solo female director to be a part of the billion dollar club.
