Spaceman teaser out: Adam Sandler is a haunted astronaut in sci-fi drama

Adam Sandler starrer Spaceman will debut on Netflix in March next year. Ahead of its release, the makers unveiled the first teaser of the film on Wednesday, December 20. It featured the lead actor as an astronaut, who is on a space research mission. The strange and gloomy-sounding film, directed by Johan Renck, is based on Jaroslav Kalfar's Czech novel Spaceman of Bohemia.

In the latest first-look teaser for Spaceman, Hanus (Paul Dano) muses over his journey and how it led to a fateful encounter as Jakub (Adam Sandler) wades through a river in his spacesuit.

The plot of Spaceman revolves around Sandler's astronaut Jakub, who is six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system. He finds himself contemplating the possibility that his marriage may not be waiting for him upon his return to Earth. Jakub is assisted in his desperate attempt to mend his marriage to Lenka (Carey Mulligan) by an enigmatic being from the beginning of time that he discovers hiding in the ship's hold. Paul Dano collaborates with Jakub to figure out what went wrong before it's too late.

What are Carey Mulligan and Adam Sandler up to? 

Mulligan is currently running an Oscar season campaign for the Netflix drama Maestro, which is dedicated to the memory of the late conductor Leonard Bernstein. Sandler, on the other hand, will be seen in Josh Safdie’s untitled upcoming sports memorabilia drama. The Safdie Bros. co-wrote the script. 

The SAG-AFTRA strike, however, caused a delay in the Uncut Gems team reunion. Sandler told Collider that he is not sure when the film will begin production because it depends on Major League Baseball's season.
