Thangalaan On OTT: Chiyaan Vikram Starrer Set For Digital Premiere, Know Details

Chiyaan Vikram's Thangalaan did decently well during its box office run after releasing on August 15. After the film's good reception of the film in Tamil, its Hindi version was also released.  Now, buzz is building around its OTT premiere, with many reports sharing the tentative digital premiere of Pa Ranjith's directorial.

Thangalaan is now gearing up for its OTT release, with Netflix bagging the streaming rights reportedly for a whopping ₹35 crore. According to recent updates, Thangalaan is set to have its grand OTT release on Netflix on September 20, 2024, just over 35 days after its theatrical release.

Although the makers or Netflix have not officially announced the film's OTT release date, it is expected to be available in five languages, including the original Tamil and dubbed versions in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. The film boasts of a starry cast, including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, among others.

Vikram, one of the most popular names from Tamil cinema known for stellar performances in Anniyan, Sethu, Deiva Thirumagal and Ponniyin Selvan films, plays the titular role in the Tamil period drama Thangalaan.

Set against the backdrop of the Kolar gold mines of Karnataka in the 19th century, the film released globally in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Vikram said Ranjith and the team hope to work on a follow-up movie.
