OMG 2 OTT release: Yami Gautam says 'finally film will reach its right audience'

OMG 2 starring Akshay Kumar released in theatres on August 11. Months after its successful theatrical run, the film will premiere on OTT.

Yami Gautam plays the role of a lawyer in Amit Rai's directorial OMG 2. The movie also stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva's messenger and Pankaj Tripathi as a businessman. The comedy-drama completed its successful theatrical run with over ₹150 crore collection and will premiere on OTT on October 7.

Ahead of the film's digital release, the actress expressed her excitement and said, "The film will finally reach its audience". It is to be noted that OMG 2 touches upon the issue of sex education and the importance of incorporating it into the school syllabus. However, it was granted an A certificate which the makers said restricted its audience.

Yami Gautam 'thrilled' about OMG 2 OTT premiere

Ahead of OMG 2’s premiere on Netflix on October 7, Yami expressed her excitement, saying she was certain that the film will reach its right audience on OTT. “Super thrilled for the release of OMG 2 on an OTT platform. More than just a film; it's a message that deserves to reach its right audience, and I'm confident it will find its way via an OTT release,” she told Pinkvilla.

The Lost actress also revealed that she is eagerly awaiting the film’s release on OTT after the "thunderous" response it received in the theatres. “With the immense love and the thunderous response that the film received after its theatrical launch, I'm even more excited and eagerly waiting to see what the OTT release has in store for us! Hopefully, the film will start and provoke a positive conversation amongst the teenagers that we had intended for it to,” she added.

OMG 2 makers raise issue with CBFC certification

OMG 2 hit the big screens on August 11, alongside Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2. Touching upon the subject of sex education and its relevance in the school syllabus, the film was released with 27 modifications by CBFC and was granted an A certificate. This move came days ahead of the film's release and restricted its audience. Later, addressing the audience in a movie theatre, Akshay Kumar shared that it was the first “Adult film that was made for teenagers.”
