Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire just debuted on Netflix. The film has been accruing strong viewership numbers coupled with rave reviews praising director Zack Snyder's vision. While fans know there is much to look forward to with a Part Two on the cards, another interesting offering for fans of the fantasy action franchise is an R-rated director's cut of Part One.

Rebel Moon's director's cut will soon be available for streaming

For the unversed, Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire has two versions - the PG-13 version is the cut currently available for streaming on Netflix. The director's cut of the film however, will soon be made available. As per a ComicBook report, screenwriter Kurt Johnstad has elaborated how this director's cut will carry elaborate backstories and fresh character arcs, offering an enhanced viewing experience for fans of the film.

He said, "There's definitely a lot more story at the front of the movie. You're definitely going to get a lot more Jimmy and see his arc, and you're going to get a lot more of Kora and the Motherworld. You're going to get a different introduction to Noble. You're also going to get a different introduction to some smaller characters like Aris, who's the Motherworld soldier that defends the character of Sam in the granary. So you get an interesting look into why he is now constricted as a slave soldier of the Motherworld and how he got there. So his arc is much more defined. But just in broad brushstrokes, there's more character, and certainly knowing Zack, there's more action and spectacle and the visual vibrance of what he does."

Rebel Moon could have been a four-hour long film

Johnstad continued that if everything they originally wanted to include in the final cut of the film were to be included in the Netflix version of the same, they would have had a four-hour long PG-13 film on their hands. He said, “here's definitely a lot more mythology, and a deeper understanding of the Motherworld and their intention, and what the rebellion is coming up against.” So there just wasn't enough time. It would've been a four-hour PG-13 movie."
