Tanya Maniktala's breakthrough performance in 2020 series A Suitable Boy got her much acclaim and recognition. The actress however has been tepid when it comes to selecting projects. Well-acquainted with sudden rushes of fame, courtesy her stint in TVF's Flames, Maniktala knows better than to get swept away in it. The actress recently opened up about all she learnt from A Suitable Boy director Mira Nair as she discusses her latest OTT release, P.I. Meena.

Tanya Maniktala on what she learnt from Mira Nair while filming for A Suitable Boy
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Tanya Maniktala opened up about her time shooting for A Suitable Boy under the guidance of Mira Nair. Maniktala revealed learning how important it was to be authentic to oneself in how we present ourselves to the world, was the biggest takeaway from her time with "Mira-di".

She said, "The most beautiful thing about working with Mira-di was how grounded she was. She is all heart. We live in a cut-throat world. Yet being brave enough to put yourself out there is something she still does...Having worked with her, I learnt that I’d always be learning. Because she is still learning. She once told me, ‘Tanya, I want the world to see the world I have to offer.’ That spirit has stayed with me."
Tanya Maniktala says there is nothing special about her character in P.I. Meena
Another detail revealed by Maniktala was the first impression she had of her role in P.I. Meena - that of Meenakshi. The actress put it across blatantly how though there was nothing remarkable about Meenakshi her past and her nuances is what made her increasingly unique as she stepped into the role.

She said, "I loved the story instantly. But when it came to the character, it took me time because there is nothing special about this girl. If she passes by you, you won’t even notice her. Yet, when I kept reading the script, there was this drive to her, there was this madness to her. She was unlike any other character I had read. She was not perfect. She was so flawed…" P.I. Meena is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
