80s Buildup on OTT: Santhanam's comedy-drama makes digital debut

Santhanam's return to comedy with 80s buildup

This movie also marks Santhanam's return to pure comedy after a break. He started in Tamil cinema as a comedic sidekick to big stars before becoming a lead actor. However, in his lead roles, action became more prominent, overshadowing comedy. But in 80s Buildup, he's back to his comedy roots, which is a refreshing change.

The story revolves around a carefree guy, played by Santhanam, who loves celebrating the larger-than-life movie stars. But his life changes dramatically when his beloved grandfather passes away.

The entire story happens during the grandfather's funeral. It gets interesting when the grandfather's spirit refuses to leave with Yama (the god of death) and Chitragupta until they fulfill five wishes. Meanwhile, thieves try to steal something from the grandfather's place, leading to a hilarious series of events.

This movie, written and directed by S Kalyan, also stars Radhika Preethi, K.S.Ravikumar, Anand Raj, and Mansoor Ali Khan.
