Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT: The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is all geared up to set big screen on fire. Be it the use of de-aging technology, salary of the cast or the plot details, the film has managed to grab eyeballs. In latest update about the GOAT, the film has set a new record for a Tamil movie with pre-booking sales.
According to a report of Sacnilk, GOAT has earned ₹16.85 total on opening day. Thalapathay Vijay starrer stand out as the Tamil movie that has secured highest number of advance bookings in 2024. GOAT surpassed the record, which was held by Indian 2 with collection of ₹11.20 crore in pre-sales.
Reportedly, the majority of ticket sales for GOAT came from Tamil Nadu (₹11.81 crore) and Karnataka (₹5.41 crore), with notable support from Kerala (2.72 crore) and Maharashtra( ₹32.18 lakh) as well.
As per reports, AGS Entertainment CEO, Archana Kalapathi revealed that the production house spent a whopping ₹400 crore on the film's making. It is undoubtedly one of the most expensive Tamil films ever made. In her defence for GOAT being one of the most expensive films, she said, “top actor’s salary is directly proportional to the revenue that they can generate at the box office”.
She further mentioned that, “Moreover, the focus would be on the opening weekend ticket sales and producers experience the pressure to perform that sparks creative brilliance.”
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) features Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. GOAT is slated for a worldwide release in theatres on September 5.
GOAT’s plot centres around four RAW agents whose past actions come back to haunt them, setting the stage for a high-stakes action drama.
