Kamal Haasan has been busy with the shooting of his next movie Thug Life, which marks his reunion with director Mani Ratnam. Time and again, the movie has made its way to the headlines since it was announced. Speaking of which, the movie is once again trending on top after reports of the movie making a record-breaking deal for OTT rights.
Is Thug Life's OTT rights bought by Netflix at a whopping Rs 149.7 crores?
A report in Deccan Herald suggests that Netflix has purchased the OTT rights of Thug Life for a whopping amount of Rs 149.7 crores. The movie has reportedly broken the records of The GOAT and Good Bad Ugly and set a new record for Tamil movies in terms of digital rights. The deal was reportedly taken place by a prominent film distributor in Tamil.
What do we know about Thug Life?
Thug Life is touted to be a period gangster drama starring an ensembling cast of Rohit Saraf, Silambarasan, Sanya Malhotra, Pankaj Tripathi , Joju George, Ali Fazal , Ashok Selvan, Nassar, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami Gopikumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jisshu Sengupta and Vaiyapuri. It marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after the 1987 movie Nayakan. The songs and background score are composed by AR Rahman , marking his third collaboration with Haasan after Indian (1996) and Thenali (2000); and 18th with Ratnam. The movie is scheduled to hit the theatres in 2025.

Kamal Haasan also has Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan, in the pipeline. In the movie, Siva portrays the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan, alongside Sai Pallavi as the female lead portraying Mukund's wife Indhu. The movie is an adaptation of the book series India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which is based on Mukund Varadarajan. The movie will hit the theatres on October 21, coinciding with Diwali.
