WATCH | Video of Captain Vijayakanth seemingly from his last day on a film set goes viral

Veteran Tamil actor Vijayakanth passed away this morning in Chennai. The actor who was a major star in the 80s and 90s in Tamilnadu, worked in more than 150 films in his 30 year career. Amidst all the condolence messages pouring in for the actor, a video has now surfaced on the internet featuring the late actor and is now going viral.

The viral video is from the sets of Vijayakanth’s last film

Reportedly, the video is from the sets of Tamil film titled Tamizhan Endru Sol, which was shelved midway of Vijayakanth’s deteriorating health condition. Before this film, Vijayakanth had appeared in the 2015 film Sagaptham, which too was directed by Shanmuga Pandian. 

Now, Vijayakanth fans have managed to find a BTS video of their favourite actor from Tamizhan Endru Sol, and are now sending it around, labelling it as a glimpse of Vijayakanth’s last day on a film shoot.

In the said video, Vijayakanth can be seen delivering a rousing monologue about the pride of a triumphant man. As one can also see in the clip, Vijayakanth’s monologue was followed by a applause from crew members.  The clip also includes a shooting bit of Shanmuga Pandian who too mouths a dialogue on similar lines.

Besides being a major film personality, Vijayakanth had also emerged as a prominent political figure in the last 20 years. He founded Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) in 2005, challenging the supremacy of former CMs J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi. Additionally, he also served as LoP twice, representing the constituencies of Virudhachalam and Rishivandiyam.

Earlier this morning, the officials at Miot Hospital confirmed Vijayakanth’s death. The actor, known by fans as the "Captain" for his portrayal of military characters, was admitted for the treatment of pneumonia and was on ventilator support. He tested positive for Covid-19, and was on ventilator support following his admission for pneumonia. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Vijayakanth passed away in the morning on Dec 28.

Vijayakanth is survived by his wife, Premalatha, and two sons.
