Teen rapper Lil Tay confirms she is alive after fake Instagram post

Tay Tian aka Lil Tay is a popular internet personality and a child rapper who rose to fame at the age of 9. Earlier, it was reported that she and her brother Jason Tian passed away due to unknown reasons on August 9. However, Lil Tay came forward and shut down the rumours about her and her brother's death.

Lil Tay confirms she is alive

After a day of uncertainty and false claims, teen rapper Lil Tay confirmed that she and her brother are alive. In a statement shared by TMZ, the internet personality cleared the air but expressed her grief over the matter. She stated, "I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatising 24 hours." Lil Tay revealed that she was bombarded with phone calls and endless messages from her loved ones, which caused a huge mess.

She claimed that her Instagram handle was "compromised by a third party" which began to spread "jarring misinformation" about her. She also said that her legal name was mentioned as Claire Hope when it is Tay Tian. However, Tay has managed to recover her account and the false death statement has been removed.

Soon after Lil Tay confirmed to TMZ that she is alive, her fans began to wonder why it took her more than 24 hours to get the word out. On Wednesday, when the news of Lil Tay's death began to spread online, TMZ contacted Vancouver police to know more about the case. They reported that Tay's family members were in the dark and had no idea about her rumored death.
