Bhagya Lakshmi actor Aishwarya Khare took inspiration from Sridevi's Sadma for her role

Aishwarya Khare essays the role of Lakshmi Bajwa in the successful television serial Bhagya Lakshmi. The plot for the same recently underwent an overhaul of sorts where the primary characters - that of Khare and Rohit Suchanti's Rishi Oberoi - get into a car accident. Khare has now opened up about her experience playing a "mentally child" role.

Aishwarya Khare reveals she drew inspiration from a Sridevi performance for Bhagya Lakshmi's plot twist
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Khare revealed that she was given the reference of Sridevi's character from 1983 film Sadma to get into her new role in Bhagya Lakshmi. She said, "Honestly, I was really nervous about it and wasn’t sure if I could pull off something like this. My creative had given me a Sridevi ma’am reference from the Sadma movie and I watched that movie again for inspiration..."

The actress further shared how though she was initially hesitant, she has come to really enjoy the new character arc. Khare however also revealed how she has to keep herself in check so as to not overdo the trope. She added, ""I am really having fun playing this new child-like Lakshmi on-screen. I feel like I get to be myself more than I have ever been while shooting. If I talk about challenges, there isn’t one thing that I can tell you specifically, but the whole process of maintaining the character and not overdoing it is something that I have to work on a lot."

Aishwarya Khare also revealed how what she particularly enjoys about stepping into her new character arc, is the get up involved. The actress elaborated how the same reminds her of her childhood.

She said, "I feel very nostalgic when I look at myself in the mirror. It takes me back to the days when I used to go to school days. It reminds me of my mother who used to sit every morning and tie my braids, getting me ready for school. I am really enjoying this look. I feel wearing this outfit is making me look younger."
