Bigg Boss 18: Meet Nia Sharma, TV's Glamorous 'Naagin' Confirmed As 1st Contestant Of Reality Show

Bigg Boss 18: Nia Sharma, popular for TV shows such as Ishq Mein Marjawan, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai and Jamai Raja, is reportedly all set to participate in the controversial reality show. Nia is no stranger to reality TV but this will be an experience like no other for her. If indeed Nia enters the Bigg Boss house, she will be one of the contestants to look out for.

Nia Sharma Career: Delhi girl enters showbiz in Mumbai

Nia Sharma was born and brought up in Delhi. Reportedly, she studied journalism and mass communication before moving to Mumbai to pursue her dreams of being a model-actress. Interestingly, Nia also changed her name before entering the industry. "There are a lot of Nehas around," she said when asked about taking up Nia as her stage and screen name.

The actress made her screen debut in 2010 with Kaali - Ek Agnipariksha, appearing as Anu. She then played Nisha Mehta in the multi-starrer Behenein. Both shows didn't air for long due to low TRPs. However, Nia's magnetic presence was noticed by casting directors and creatives.

Nia got her big break when she signed to play the parallel lead in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. The show ran for 2 years (2011 to 2013) and made Nia a household name.  She played the role of demure Manvi Chaudhary alongside Krystle D'Souza, Karan Tacker and Kushal Tandon. Since her character was something different from her real self, her performance shone among other popular cast members.

The next chapter in Nia's showbiz journey unfolds: Jamai and venture into OTT

After Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Nia signed on to play the lead role in Jamai Raj, opposite Ravi Dubey. The show ran successfully with NIa quitting it to venture into newer territories. Hereon, she started to experiment as an artist and began working on OTT and reality shows and even featured in music videos, showcasing her penchant for dance and glamour. This helped her escape TV's stereotypical presentation of the female lead as a demure and submissive woman.

In 2017, she marked her debut on digital platform with Vikram Bhatt's web series Twisted, an erotic thriller where she co-starred with Rrahul Sudhir and Namit Khanna. She played the role of Aliyah Mukherjee, a supermodel. After this, she featured in the 8th season of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by Rohit Shetty. She could only become one of the finalists in the show.

Nia next reprised her character in the second and third seasons of Twisted. In 2018, she started featuring in Ishq Mein Marjawan with Arjun Bijlani. Despite a short run on air, the show gained popularity and Nia's portrayal of two characters was liked by fans. She also reunited with Ravi Dubey in the web series Jamai 2.0.

Fame skyrockets after Nia becomes Naagin

In 2019, Nia joined Naagin 4: Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel. She starred as the shape shifting serpent Brinda opposite Vijayendra Kumeria until it went off air in August 2020. Just after the show culminated, she participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi – Made in India and was declared its winner.  

After her brief run in Jamai 2.0 in 2021, Nia, in 2022, participated in the dance-based reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa by pairing up with choreographer Tarun Raj Nihalani.
